Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

The first lessons for a beginner cover guitar anatomy and core mechanics.

• Guitar components: Learn the names of each major part like the neck and fretboard.
• Open string names: The six strings are tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E from thickest to thinnest.
• Finger placement: Press strings firmly just before the fret using your fingertips.
• Basic strumming: Hold a plectrum between your index finger and strum from top to bottom with a relaxed wrist.

Master these fundamentals first to avoid frustrating mistakes that limit your playing.

Guitar lessons in Rowville typically cost around $52/h for a one-hour session.

The cost fluctuates based on various considerations:

• The student's level (beginner, or high school level)
• The teacher's qualifications (degrees and certifications)
• Lesson duration and frequency (45-minute sessions, weekly)
• Where lessons occur (at the teacher's studio)

Many teachers provide a complimentary first session so you can test compatibility before making a decision.

Also called Pareto's Law, this concept shows that targeted effort yields major improvements.

Instead of practising randomly, focus sessions to the skills that matter most.

Examples of high-impact practice:

• Smooth chord transitions between basic shapes like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Strumming with consistent timing using rhythmic exercises
• Learning the pentatonic scale in one key thoroughly
• Ear training to understand melodies

This approach reduces frustration by targeting the skills that improve multiple areas.
