Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

The first lessons for a new guitarist cover parts of the instrument and fundamental skills.

• Parts of the instrument: Know the headstock and other essential parts to describe problems.
• Note names: Standard tuning assigns particular pitches to all six strings: E-A-D-G-B-E.
• Finger placement: Keep your thumb centered for support while fingers curve naturally.
• Basic strumming: Develop consistent rhythm by using wrist rotation rather than shoulder motion.

Master these fundamentals first to avoid bad habits that become hard to fix.

Guitar lessons in Turramurra typically cost around $89/h per hour.

This rate can vary based on multiple criteria:

• The learner's experience (beginner, or primary level)
• The tutor's credentials (performance background)
• Session length and regularity (45-minute sessions, fortnightly)
• The lesson mode (in-person or remote)

Some tutors offer bulk pricing when you commit to regular lessons, which makes learning more affordable.

Also called the Pareto Principle, this concept shows that focused practice yields outsized gains.

Apply this by targeting specific challenges that unlock multiple songs.

Examples of high-impact practice:

• Seamless switching between foundational voicings like G-C-D or E-A-B
