Pianos are built around a 12-note pattern that spans the full instrument.

You'll find C, C♯, D, D♯, E, F, F♯, G, G♯, A, A♯, and B repeating throughout.

• Sharp and flat notes are two names for the same key. The note between C and D can be called either C♯ or D♭.
• Each octave spans 7 natural notes plus 5 accidentals.
• Each repetition places the notes in progressively higher or lower registers.

This 12-note foundation unlocks all scales, chords, and melodies.

Most piano teachers in Wahroonga charge roughly $35/h per hour.

The cost varies depending on several factors:

• The student's level (novice, developing, proficient)
• The teacher's experience and qualifications (formal education, teaching experience, professional accomplishments)
• The session format and schedule of lessons
• The delivery method (virtual, in-person at your location, or at the teacher's premises)

Many teachers provide a complimentary first session, allowing you to assess their teaching style before committing.

This concept means that strategic practice beats sheer practice time.

Applied to piano, it's about prioritizing challenging passages over easier ones.

• Practice hard sections until they match the easier parts.
