About Alec
I’m a final-year History and Politics student at the London School of Economics (LSE), offering GCSE and A-level tutoring in History and Politics. I particularly enjoy helping students with the part of these subjects that can often be hardest to master: turning good knowledge into a strong argument.
I can help with essay structure, developing and sustaining an argument, using evidence effectively, source questions and exam technique, as well as building confidence with the subject content itself. My approach is friendly and collaborative rather than overly formal. I want students to understand why an essay or argument works, rather than simply memorising a formula.
As a current university student, I also remember very clearly what GCSE and A-level study is actually like and the pressure that comes with exams.
Alongside my degree, I have professional experience in research, writing and consulting. This has all served to strengthen my ability to communicate complicated ideas clearly and concisely. Whether you're aiming for the highest grades or simply want to feel more confident going into lessons and exams, I'll tailor sessions around where you're currently struggling and what you want to achieve
