About Michelle
As a Golden Apple Scholar, I have four teaching internships (preschool-6th grade) during college at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have taught 1st grade for two years and kindergarten for one year. I have tutored for two years in the following grades: kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th.

I believe building a relationship with students is fundamental to helping them learn. Then I can incorporate their interests and make learning more relatable as well. I also focus on empowering students to think critically. I ask many questions to encourage students to problem-solve and think through how they can solve the problem based on what we have learned together and their prior knowledge. Building upon students' strengths is also very important to help them succeed in areas they are working on.
