• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I teach dance — mainly Kathak, which I’ve learned formally and hold close to my heart. Dance has been my passion since childhood, and over the years, I’ve explored various forms like semi-classical, Bollywood, hip-hop, and modern dance. My journey began as a child who loved to move to rhythm, and it naturally evolved into a lifelong passion.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  My motivation to teach came from my parents, who always appreciated classical arts. Their encouragement and love for traditional forms inspired me to share the same joy with others. Teaching dance gives me immense satisfaction — it allows me to pass on the grace and discipline that Kathak instilled in me.

• How does your work help society?

  Dance is more than just movement — it’s a form of expression and peace. It helps people feel confident, joyful, and connected. Whether it’s a school function, wedding, or stage performance, dance brings communities together. In today’s busy world, it also offers a beautiful escape and a way to stay mentally and physically healthy.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My biggest inspiration is my Kathak teacher. His dedication, precision, and expressive grace were unmatched. He showed me that dance has no boundaries — his expressions were as graceful and powerful as any woman’s, and that taught me true artistry lies beyond gender.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Apart from teaching, I love creating dance content and posting on social media. I’m also a software engineer by profession, so balancing art and technology keeps my life interesting. I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, and finding inspiration in everyday experiences.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  During the pandemic, when travel and gatherings came to a halt, I started online dance classes. I had a group of enthusiastic girls aged 7–12 who adapted beautifully to the virtual setup. Despite all challenges, they stayed consistent and passionate. Watching their dedication and joy reminded me how deeply dance can inspire and unite people — even through a screen!
