With over half a lifetime of experience, Sam Ward brings a unique, results-driven approach to teaching drums and music. Far from experimental, this method is grounded in simplicity and years of observation, focusing on the small steps that build confidence and set young musicians on a path to success.
Sam believes that once students conquer their first simple steps and gain confidence, they “catch the bug” for music. From there, progress accelerates into an exponential curve of growth, fueled by that initial sense of achievement. Having noticed during my musical journey that many of my teachers over the years, despite being great teachers, left out crucial information that I am always keen on offering to my students.
Based in Las Vegas, Sam offers drum lessons both in person at his personal studio and on location, traveling to the student as needed. He also offer a range of virtual lesson packages, with options for instruction via Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime, etc.

Although my rate of $75/hour for weekly (or more, if you prefer) private drum lessons may seem a bit high, however I can guarantee that you will get what you pay for; particularly in this circumstance.
With no disrespect to ANY other teacher/musician out there, I did attend the Berklee College of Music on a merit based scholarship, double majored in Drum Set Percussion/Music Business, and graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor's Degree in Drum Set Performance.
I started playing the drums at age 5 (I'm 33 now) and took a few drum lessons. As previously mentioned, this teacher simply wasn't engaging for such a young student and at the time I found it too confusing to continue. I did however have a little mini drum set to mess around with if I wanted to.
At the age of 12, I hadn't played drums in some time. I was in a school meeting where my good friend's younger brother got to perform a few original songs for the whole school. I'll be honest - I was envious! He was very talented, the band sounded good, and everybody thought it was cool! When I got home from school later that day, I sat down at the mini drum set I had in the basement (which hadn't been touched in a couple years) and tested myself. I could remember a few beats, and even came up with a few new ones. It felt amazing and from that moment on I decided wholeheartedly that I would be a professional drummer. I seldom have skipped a day of practice in the 21 years since then!
My goal - in fact my GUARANTEE is that if you study drums with me and are clear about your goals/expectations, strengths/weaknesses, etc (these don't have to be figured out at once, and I certainly don't expect these answers on the first day!), I WILL get you there. The catch is that you have to put in the work - I know very well how to lead a horse to water, but I don't know anybody that can force the horse to drink that water. You have to want it. Again, you don't have to want to be a superstar/rockstar, etc. WHATEVER your goals are, I can and will help you achieve them. I'll just need you to put in the work that I suggest you put in!
I can't wait to work with you soon!
