About Ross
Hello! I'm Ross, a 21 year old drummer based in the Leeds area. I have been playing drums for a solid 10 years now, and have been a practitioner since the age of 16. I studied music at school and left with a B grade, with most marks coming from my performing ability. I then went on to study music performance at college, leaving with a Distinction in 2017. Since 2016/2017, I have been involved in several bands, playing a variety of styles and genres ranging from rock to pop, glam to metal, indie to psychedelic. I am also comfortable in a studio environment, having recorded several songs for my own group as well as the occasional session job.
There legitimately is not a place I am more comfortable at than when I am sitting at a drum kit! I am a bit of a gear head, and can confidently discuss and advise of what things you could acquire to your own personal arsenal; I'm into many many different styles of music, so there is bound to be something we can bond over during lessons; I've an advanced knowledge of all aspects of drumming, from technical elements, stage presence, tuning, equipment and most importantly, how to play the instrument!

My approach to teaching is one based less on theoretical principal, but more on the joy and feeling of the music itself; I prefer an approach based in examples of other music, deconstructing and understanding how others create their art and applying it to my students in order for them to develop their own unique voice all the while still developing a technical knowledge of the drums.
My experience has been to primarily peers and younger family friends, with these lessons lasting anywhere from an hour to several depending on availability of my students. I am adaptable, capable of teaching from the ages 10 to 60 comfortably, but am open to teaching younger or even older!
