My core aim is to help you discover yourself, what's your way of expression, and how can you enjoy yourself through dance. Here, we focus on feeling totally relaxed and happy in the end.

-I choose to understand my fellow dancers and design my teaching methods according to their preferences.

-Even if you are a beginner, with no experience in dance, nothing to worry about, this class is still the best for your growth.

-We start off with a short warm up, then move on to learning one piece at a time, it's basics and variations, and in the end learn to place those steps in the right manner on the right beat.

-To conclude the class, we understand the music and move along to let it decide your movements. This makes you feel rejuvenated and is the best way to end the class.

We can arrange free sessions for deciding the plans of your course and work according to your requirements.

  • 1. Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I am a tutor in the dance industry, with a specialization in the field of Hip-hop. I also teach Bollywood Dance, and dive into Dance Fitness to cater to my Indian audience based in the country, and outside.

Hip-hop essentially has 6 core subsets, which are divided based on movement, theme, and timeline. These styles include-

    1. Old School Hip-hop
    2. Breaking
    3. House
    4. Locking
    5. Popping
    6. Krump (being a debatable inclusion)

These styles cater to different personalities and interests. I enjoy House, Popping, and Krump.

My father is a flawless dancer, so I do blame my genes for my interest in this field. Dancing with him since I was 4 years old helped me develop a sense of freedom and raw expression in this art. Since then I have been immersed in it. I have competed, completed my diploma, and taught workshops and programs for about 6 years now.

Teaching has been my most recent obsession. It makes me genuinely happy to see a client who comes to me underconfident, stiff, and shy, turn into someone that will break the stage once given a chance. I am proud to say that I have seen that happen with all my clients and have managed to hold a loyal clientele.
  • 2. What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

I have always been a believer in the concept that everybody can dance, absolutely anyone. Yes, we have our own ways, our own pace, our own form of expression. I feel that my qualifications now allow me to give my clients that direction which will lead them to their comfort space of dancing and moving. My motivating factor is the end result of the sessions, where my student finally comes and says, "That felt great!"

I started off because I wanted to see if I was just a good performer or am I good at tutoring as well. I have always been a people person, so I thought of using two of my major features and see what comes out. I applied on Superprof first, this is where I started. I got a 14-year-old kid as my student, and when I saw him groove freely after learning the tricks that I taught him, I was overwhelmed. The money did not even matter after that. Because seeing that was a bigger treat.
  • 3. How does your work help society?

IT MAKES EVERYONE HAPPY. My services are as simple as that. Yes, that's one thing that they do pick up a skill, but again, the bigger picture involves an image of them jumping in joy, and singing along to songs, moving freely. It is a beautiful version of society to me.

Most people that say that they cannot dance, are people that are just not confident enough to let go and do absolutely anything to the beats of a song. When I build that confidence in them and explain to them the power of musicality, they feel content and are ready to cherish each and every sound.
  • 4. If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I have grown up watching a lot of Matt Steffanina, who is a big name in the dance tutoring industry. His choreographies are fun, easy to do, and impactful. He did somewhere or the other inspire me, because I used to love the hype and appreciation that he would get from his students, and I would have loved to be in his shoes as well. But I never got the chance to attend a live class by him, so I never really came across his methods of teaching.

I devised my method of teaching by mixing up the techniques of different instructors in my life. So a lot of people play all sorts of roles in my sessions. I do not have one specific role model. I would rather have a fictional role model, which is me in 5 years that has a full-house studio teaching a banger of a choreography. That would be fulfilling.
  • 5. Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I am in the law field, so I love Client Counselling competitions, Negotiation sessions, Moot Court competitions.
I am big on music, so my favorite thing to do is discovering new music.
I like to anchor and host events on the side as well.
  • 6. Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

There was a point, where I was teaching a 9-year-old kid in Delhi on a few days of the week, and a 40-year-old man in Mumbai on the other days (through webcam).

I was teaching them the same beginner-level choreography. The kid would not care as much about my directions, he was chilling and having fun. On the other hand, the man in Mumbai would be stressing out if he could not follow my lead. I was faced with two different approaches to teaching the same choreography to two students, but I did it anyway. Regardless of how they started, by the end of it, they both performed astonishingly well and matched each other's levels.

I found it crazy how I managed to do that and it was a big validating moment in my career.
