About Mary
Before retiring, I taught in both private and public schools on the middle school, high school, and college level. Didn't like being retired; missed working with students, so I've been a private tutor since 2010. Reading comprehension is vital and should be taught in such a way that students begin to view reading as an enjoyable experience. This is my goal.

Before anyone learns anything, trust must be developed between the student and the teacher. I need the students to know I respect their desire to learn and understand their purpose for being in my classroom. I feel that students need to know how what they are learning will impact their lives. Nothing should be included in curriculum that does not have a positive effect on the learner. To facilitate learning I use study guides for difficult material and break down lessons into chunks that are more easily understood. I encourage responsibility and reward effort. I like what I do and want student to like working with me.
