Jeanette is a respected tutor in our community. She is highly recommended for her commitment and the quality of her lessons. An excellent choice to progress with confidence.
About Jeanette
I am a fully qualified teacher with QTS and over 17 years of experience, including eight years in NAS-accredited specialist autism provisions and five years of private SEN tutoring.
I specialise in working with autistic students, ADHDers and young people with PDA, using approaches that are collaborative, low-demand and autonomy-preserving. I understand how neurodivergent students process information, manage sensory input and navigate social demands. My teaching adapts to communication preferences, processing time and sensory needs, using visual supports, clear language and predictable structure.
Alongside academic progress, I prioritise emotional regulation, confidence and self-esteem. Many of the young people I work with have experienced anxiety, trauma or repeated setbacks in education. I create calm, structured spaces where they feel safe, capable and understood.
My Specialist Experience
8+ years in specialist autism provision
5+ years private SEN tutoring
Experience with autism, ADHD, PDA and complex emotional needs
Functional Skills, alternative qualifications and mainstream KS1–3 Maths and English
PSHE, Psychology, Health & Social Care and life skills
Counselling training informing a therapeutic, trauma-aware approach
I use memory strategies, visual methods and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and manageable. Complex concepts are broken into clear steps, with a strong focus on genuine understanding rather than rote learning.

My lessons are personalised, interest-led and structured. I incorporate special interests wherever possible to increase engagement and reduce anxiety. I use visual, kinaesthetic and discussion-based methods, alongside quizzes, games and practical application.
For students with PDA, I use collaborative language and choice-based strategies that reduce pressure whilst maintaining clear, consistent boundaries.
Sessions focus on both academic goals and independence skills. I teach learning strategies, self-regulation techniques and self-advocacy, helping students understand how their brain works and what supports them best.
Learning should feel achievable, relevant and even enjoyable. When students feel understood and respected, progress follows.

Finally, someone who understands my child .
My daughter has Autism and ADHD, and has struggled in mainstream school for years. We’ve tried several tutors. Jeanette is different - she doesn’t just focus on the maths, she takes time to understand how my daughter is feeling and works hard keep her engaged and confident. For the first time, my daughter actually looks forward to maths!! Her confidence has grown massively. We have had the pleasure of working with Jeanette as Daniella's tutor for the past 3 years, and we could not be more pleased with the incredible progress she has made in that time. Daniella has autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities, and Jeanette's approach has been nothing short of outstanding.
Jeanette is patient, kind, and empathetic, and she creates an environment where Daniella feels comfortable and supported.
Daniella truly enjoys going to Jeanette's house for their sessions, and it's clear that Jeanette has a special way of making learning fun and engaging.
She incorporates Daniella's special interests into the lessons, which has been key in keeping her engaged and motivated.
In addition to focusing on academic subjects like maths and English, Jeanette also works with Daniella on vital life skills, including travel training and community visits, which are helping Daniella develop the skills she will need for adulthood. This holistic approach to tutoring has made a profound difference in Daniella's academic, social, and emotional growth.
We are incredibly grateful.
We are incredibly grateful for Jeanette's dedication and the positive impact she has had on Daniella's life. Her ability to cater to Daniella's unique needs while fostering a love of learning is truly exceptionalView more recommendations
