About Kaela
My core values when it comes to teaching are: work off of what the stu- dents already know; make learning vivid, real, and fun; and promote learning though assessment. However the biggest value I have is to create and develop learning skills and personal qualities. I want to take what the students already know and bring them steps farther. I want to see the students reach the goals we place in the beginning of the year together. I want to make each lesson new and exciting. I have always believed that if the lesson is fun and lively, the objective will stick with the students better. I want each student to be able to share their ways of learning. I want to be able to push my students to take the next steps in their learning process, to help them go deeper.
My role will be to guide the students in learning the content but they will do the final learning themselves. I see myself more of a coach. By being a coach, it is like a game day once test time comes. All the lessons and activities leading up to the test were like practice days for basketball. When test time (game day) comes, the students have had their practice and it is my time to do no more coaching and let them go.
