About Sacha
I am a final year student projected to graduate with a First Class Degree. I have casually tutored family friend’s children to this point, having achieved an A* at both GCSE and A Level myself.
I enjoy helping others come to enjoy novels and poetry, whilst then being able to write in an efficient style for exams.

I never used to enjoy English until I fully understood what was being asked of me. This moment of making it 'click' and all make sense is what I hope to achieve with each student.
I like to work on a text by text basis when tutoring English Literature. I find that it helps to briefly learn surrounding cultural contexts to ground the novel, this often aids meaning and relevance, encouraging further thought and criticism. Simultaneously, strengthening research skills and a broadened sense of history.
A key skill to develop in English Literature is responding to an unseen piece. Thus, I like to challenge students by setting a quick 5-10 minute opener in which I ask them to come up with 2-3 points surrounding the poem or extract. A skill we can then continue to improve for an exam scenario.
When working on a specific novel or anthology together, I will plan a lesson around each chapter/group of poems - enabling a thorough reading and ensuring all aspects of the prose are covered.
I am happy to aid with coursework progression and stylistic improvements within extended pieces of prose.
