I want to teach because I feel that accounting is a very misunderstood subject and most people think it’s about crunching numbers and balancing ledgers. But in truth accounting is essential to every business and even people who don’t plan to pursue it will gain something from learning it

Whether it be economics or accounting, my approach will always be to ensure that students understand the foundation and key concepts of the topic. This is especially important in accounting because if you don’t know double entry, no amount of theory and textbook reading can help you. Once the basics have been established I like to run through the topics and focus on the ones that students struggle the most with.
