About Izzy
I am a classics student in my second year at Edinburgh University with teaching experience in English Literature, English Language, the three sciences and Latin, Greek and am familiar with the GCSE and A level curricula for these. I chose classics for my degree because it allows me to engage all different sides of my brain, allowing me to work with amazing literature as well as continuing to develop my language and analytical skills within the ancient languages. I love working with young people to help them gain confidence in articulating their ideas and communicating them clearly on paper. My teaching style is very flexible and catered to each student individually, as a dyslexic myself I understand how important it is to be taught in innovative ways which appeal specifically to your individual learning style and the topic at hand. Being dyslexic also allows me to understand how it feels to struggle with things like timing, spelling, punctuation and just getting all those ideas down on the page. But I managed to develop numerous techniques to stop such things affecting my aspirations and my grades and I am confident that whatever you might be struggling with we will be able to figure it out too!

I base my teaching methods specifically on each child and what they are particularly struggling with. But across all lessons I try to keep variance in each lessons and appeal to different types of learning to keep it interesting. I also value the importance of revising things covered in the previous lesson to keep the information fresh and make sure it is in there long term.
