About Lois
I'm Lois, a fashion and textile practitioner with a genuine passion for sewing, garment construction and creative expression. With over 10 years of professional fashion industry experience and a background in teaching since 2013, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping others discover the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.
As Founder and Director of Sip and Sew On CIC, I deliver sewing and textile workshops that bring people together through creativity and practical learning.
I want to teach because I believe sewing is a valuable skill that anyone can learn, regardless of age or experience. Whether you're an adult discovering a new hobby or a young person exploring an interest in fashion, I'd love to help you develop your skills, build confidence and bring your creative ideas to life. My aim is to make learning enjoyable, supportive and rewarding, so you can feel proud of everything you create.

My teaching approach is practical, creative and tailored to each learner's interests, experience and goals. Through step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on projects and individual feedback, I help learners develop their sewing skills and confidence at their own pace. Lessons can cover sewing machine basics, dressmaking, pattern cutting, garment construction, clothing repairs, mending, upcycling and creative textile projects. I recommend 60–90-minute sessions, depending on the learner and project.
I am a fashion and textile practitioner with over 10 years of industry experience in garment technology, pattern cutting and clothes making. I have been teaching and facilitating sewing and fashion workshops since 2013, including previous experience as a Fashion Tutor planning lessons and supporting learners working towards Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications. I hold a Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) and am currently studying for the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA). I also run Sip and Sew On CIC, delivering community sewing and textile workshops.
My lessons are suitable for adults, complete beginners, hobbyists, and children and young people interested in sewing and fashion design. Whether you want to learn a new skill, make your own clothes, repair garments or explore your creativity, I'll help you turn your ideas into something you can be proud of!
