Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

Starting guitarists need to master several foundational concepts before moving to harder skills.

• Parts of the instrument: Know the nut and other critical elements to communicate clearly.
• Note names: Memorise standard tuning names to read tablature.
• Fretting technique: Keep the thumb position on the back of the neck while fingers arch over strings.
• Strumming basics: Develop even strumming pattern by moving from the wrist rather than elbow movement.

With strong basics in place, students can build confidence.

Private guitar tuition in Murrumbeena averages approximately $40/h.

The cost fluctuates based on multiple criteria:

• The learner's experience (beginner, or university level)
• The tutor's credentials (performance background)
• The format chosen (30-minute sessions, intensive courses)
• The lesson mode (in-person or remote)

Some teachers offer bulk pricing when you commit to regular lessons, which lowers the per-lesson cost.

• Smooth chord transitions between foundational voicings like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Even tempo control using rhythmic exercises
• Understanding scale patterns in one position first
• Recognising intervals to understand melodies
