Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

Starting guitarists need to master several foundational concepts before moving to songs or complex techniques.

• Guitar anatomy: Know the headstock and other key components to discuss technique.
• Open string names: The six strings are tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E from bottom to top.
• Fretting technique: Keep the thumb position on the back of the neck while fingers arch over strings.
• Strumming basics: Practice simple down-strums before adding alternating patterns.

Master these basics first to avoid poor technique that slow progress later.
