About Emily

I am a passionate yoga practitioner, having fallen in love with the practice around seven years ago as a way to help my mental health and find stillness away from the chaos of London life and the busyness of work and the digital world. I've wanted to train as a teacher for a long time, having informally taught friends and family classes for years. I also have a background in professional teaching as a fashion designer which helped give me initial confidence moving into yoga teaching. I gained my 200-hour certification in Bali under the guidance of incredible teachers from India's Rishikesh and native Balinese, studying everything from anatomy and alignment to philosophy and ayurveda. I see yoga as a way of life that can help to guide us mentally, physically and spiritually and truly believe in its benefits for everyone.

About the lesson

I am a passionate educator (having worked across multiple fields and within higher education as a senior lecturer as well as more informally as a personal tutor and consultant) and love to teach in a way that is accessible and open to my students. As a yoga teacher, I have a personal practice in Dharma yoga but have qualified in the fields of Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga (primary series). I am happy to teach 1-1, in small groups or larger classes and create full-length classes with pranayama, meditation and a strong asana practice, as well as the option for gentler flows. My classes are fun and we might have a few giggles as we practise/ and maybe fall out of the postures. My intention is to help guide my students safely and mindfully, to work within their individual body's needs and meet them wherever they may be in their own personal practice.
