About Shahab
I have spent my working life in pursuit of two things: stories worth telling, and ideas worth understanding. As a journalist and postgraduate in English, I have had the privilege of exploring history not as a list of facts to be memorised, but as a living conversation between the past and the present - one that anyone with curiosity and courage can join.
But here is what I have come to believe most deeply: knowledge that stays locked inside one person is knowledge half-wasted. The moment it is shared - debated, questioned, passed on - it comes alive. That is why I teach.
I am not interested in filling your head with dates and details. I want to show you how to think historically, how to argue convincingly, and how to fall in love with the questions that history asks of us. The facts matter - but the hunger to understand them matters far more.
If you come to me curious, I will meet you there. Together we will make something of that curiosity that neither of us could manage alone.

As a postgraduate in English with a career rooted in journalism, I bring a distinctive and highly practical perspective to History tuition - one that goes well beyond dates, facts, and textbook summaries.
I specialise in preparing students for the Westminster Challenge; at GCSE; and A Level, where the ability to think critically, argue persuasively, and write with real precision can make all the difference. These are exactly the skills that journalism and postgraduate study demand - and exactly what I help young historians develop.
My approach is to treat students as thinkers, not just exam candidates. I help them engage with sources, construct compelling arguments, and express complex ideas with clarity and confidence. For parents seeking tuition that genuinely stretches their child - and prepares them for the rigorous expectations of selective schools and beyond - I offer something that few tutors can: real-world experience of writing and communicating at the highest level, combined with the academic grounding to make it count in the examination room.
