About Ethan
I love literature, not because it tells very poignant tales about loss and tragedy, nor is it because I find it to be very inspiring. It is because literature is, and always has been a test of empathy and psychology. It is one of the few subjects where your emotional quotient is as important as your intelligence quotient, and it was something I struggled with when I first began reading the subject. I never had proper training in literature until I was in junior college, and at that point in time, I was cautioned that I needed to put in a lot more extra work just to keep up with a class of relatively seasoned literature students. I ended up writing essays nonstop until the day I took my exam just to get a 7 in my exams. I have to admit that my efforts were wholly unnecessary. Repetition does not guarantee quality but rather consistency in your writing. In fact, what benefits a literature student the most is to find and mature your own writing style in a coherent manner. I would rather see you find a voice that suits you than to teach you the most accurate take, it gives you more personality and freedom, which honed properly, can convey the message of the writer as eloquently and as accurately as the model answer.

I try to encourage the students to convey things in their own words and perspectives as much as possible. While accuracy in literature is paramount in answering any given prompt, I come to find that with enough reasoning, most viewpoints can be made valid. The typical length of a lesson would be around 2 hours, enough time to complete and review a poem, essay, or song lyric.
I graduated 2nd in my cohort for Literature in IB after 2 years of Literature education. My lessons are mainly for sixth-year IB students
