About Tibor

Hi, I’m Tibor! I specialize in helping beginners and social dancers feel comfortable, confident, and natural on the dance floor.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is working with people who tell me, “I can’t dance” or “I always feel awkward when I go out.” You absolutely don’t need any previous dance experience to start. My lessons are private, relaxed, and completely personalized to you and what you want to accomplish.
Maybe you want to feel confident dancing at parties and clubs, learn Salsa or Bachata, improve your partner dancing, prepare for a wedding, or simply stop wondering what to do when the music comes on. We’ll focus on what’s actually useful to you, and we’ll learn at a pace that feels comfortable.
I’ve been dancing and teaching professionally for over a decade and hold a degree in Dance Teaching & Choreography from Glendale College. My professional experience has included appearances in music videos with Enrique Iglesias, Pharrell Williams, Meghan Trainor, and Charlie Puth, as well as being named LA’s Top Solo Salsa Male Dancer at Granada LA.
But when I teach, my goal isn’t to turn every student into a professional dancer. I want you to enjoy dancing. I want you to understand the music, feel good in your body, build confidence, and be able to actually use what you learn when you go out.
Lessons are typically held in my private Glendale dance space. I can also travel to you for lessons for an additional fee (1.5-hour minimum).
Whether you already have some experience or you’re starting from “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing,” you’re welcome. I’d love to help you discover how much fun dancing can be.

Every lesson is personalized around you—your goals, your experience level, and what you actually want to be able to do on the dance floor.
Whether you want to learn Salsa or Bachata, prepare for a wedding, improve your partner dancing, or simply feel more confident when the music comes on, we'll focus on what matters to you.
I keep my lessons relaxed, fun, and easy to follow. If you're a complete beginner, don't worry—I’ll break everything down step by step and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
My goal is for you to leave each lesson feeling like you accomplished something, while actually enjoying the process. We won't just memorize steps—you'll learn how to hear the music, move more naturally, and build the confidence to use what you've learned outside of class.
No experience? No partner? No problem. Come as you are and we'll start from there.

  • 1) What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started dancing when I was 14. My sister convinced me to take a dance class with her at our local youth community center. At the time, I definitely didn't know that saying yes to that one class would turn into something I'd still be doing more than two decades later!

What started as something I tried because of my sister gradually became a huge part of my life. Over the years, dance has taken me from those first community-center classes to performing professionally, teaching, competing, appearing in music videos, and most importantly, meeting and working with so many different people through dance.
  • 2) What are your favorite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

I love almost every form of partner dancing, but Salsa, Bachata, and Zouk are probably my favorites. I'm also a huge fan of Hip-Hop and love the freedom and individuality that comes with it.

My strongest styles are Latin dancing and Hip-Hop, but one of the things I love about dance is that there's always something new to learn. Argentine Tango is one style I'd really like to dive into more. Even after dancing for so many years, I still enjoy being a beginner at something!
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

What has kept me passionate about dance is that it never really feels finished. You can know the same steps for years and still discover a completely different way to interpret the music, connect with a partner, or express yourself.

I also love what dance does for people beyond learning steps. I've watched students come in nervous, uncomfortable, or convinced that they have no rhythm, and then gradually become people who actually look forward to getting on the dance floor. Seeing that change is incredibly rewarding.

For me, dance is a combination of music, movement, connection, and personality. As long as I'm still having fun with those things, I have a reason to keep dancing.
  • 4) Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

I've been fortunate to have some exciting accomplishments throughout my career, but what I'm actually most proud of is my longevity.

It's been more than two decades since I took that first dance class at 14, and after all that time, dancing is still fun for me.

I've performed professionally, competed, taught for many years, and had opportunities I never would have imagined when I started. But being able to go through all of that without losing the reason I started dancing in the first place is probably my biggest accomplishment. I never want dance to feel like something I have to do.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

One challenge I remember very clearly was learning to dance well without relying on a mirror.

I became so accustomed to seeing myself dance that when the mirror wasn't there, everything suddenly felt different. I had to stop depending on what the movement looked like and learn to understand what it felt like instead.

That was challenging, but it changed the way I dance and the way I teach. It taught me to listen more closely to the music, understand my body, and trust what I was feeling rather than constantly checking what I looked like.

It's also something I try to give my students. Ultimately, I don't want them to need a mirror—or me standing next to them—to feel comfortable dancing.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

I'm going to bend the definition of “athlete” a little and choose Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley. Although, if we're actually jogging, I'm not sure how much talking we'd manage!

I'd be fascinated to ask them what it felt like to develop such recognizable movement and stage presence. Both could walk onto a stage and, within seconds, you knew exactly who you were watching.

I'd especially want to know how much of that came naturally and how much was consciously developed through years of practice. I'd also ask how they continued performing and creating under enormous pressure without losing their connection to the music.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

I think one of the biggest mistakes in learning dance is measuring yourself against people who have already been dancing for years.

With my students, I try to keep the focus on small wins. Maybe today you finally heard the beat clearly. Maybe a movement that felt completely unnatural last week suddenly made sense. Maybe you went out over the weekend and danced instead of standing on the side of the floor.

    Those moments matter.

I'm also very patient. If something isn't clicking, I don't believe the answer is simply repeating the exact same explanation louder or more times! I'll approach it differently until we find a way of understanding the movement that works for that particular student.

Most importantly, I want lessons to be fun. People are much more likely to keep dancing when they're enjoying the process rather than constantly worrying about whether they're doing everything perfectly.

    8) What makes you a Superprof in sports?

I think my patience and my understanding of beginners are two of my biggest strengths as a teacher.

After teaching for many years, I've learned that beginners usually aren't just learning where to put their feet. They're also dealing with feeling self-conscious, worrying about looking awkward, trying to hear the music, remembering what comes next, and sometimes being convinced before we even start that they're “not a dancer.”

I understand that, and I don't expect everyone to learn the same way or at the same speed.

My job is to figure out what you need in order for dancing to start making sense. I can bring more than two decades of dance experience into the room, but I don't expect my students to adapt to me. I adapt my teaching to them.

If you leave a lesson feeling a little more confident, a little more capable, and excited to dance again, then I think I've done my job.
