Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

The first lessons for someone starting out cover parts of the instrument and basic playing techniques.

• Guitar components: Learn the names of each major part like the body and fretboard.
• String identification: The six strings are tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E from lowest to highest.
• Left-hand form: Use the pads of your fingers to press strings firmly near the fret wire.
• Right-hand rhythm: Practice basic downstrokes before adding complex rhythms.

These four fundamentals prepare beginners for playing simple songs within the first few weeks.

Guitar lessons in Essendon North typically cost around $30/h for a 60-minute lesson.

This rate varies based on various considerations:

• The student's level (beginner, or primary level)
• The instructor's experience (performance background)
• Session length and regularity (60-minute sessions, fortnightly)
• The teaching format (at the teacher's studio)

Choosing remote learning can make lessons more accessible while maintaining strong progress.

Also called the 80-20 principle, this concept shows that focused practice yields disproportionate results.

Instead of practising randomly, focus sessions to the techniques that deliver results.

Examples of high-impact practice:

• Clean chord changes between foundational voicings like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Steady rhythm patterns using a metronome
• Mastering basic scales in a single shape
• Recognising intervals to understand melodies

Remember that the vital 20% vary by skill level, so reassess regularly as you progress.
